On the top of Gajsatje (3307 ft)

Particularities

Beautiful hiking mountain in the Vindelfjällen nature reserve with great views. The climbs are suitable for snowshoeing beginners.

Tour description

The Gajsatje is the first 3000 ft mountain we reached from Ammarnäs out when we approach the Vindelfjällen nature reserve from the south. Its easily accessible location make it a popular destination. On the parking lot, we fasten the snowshoes. First we follow the path of the north-west by subalpine birch forest up and later we reach the highlands. The ahead avalanche cliffs we leave left, swing on the other hand ascending upwards to the right to address a nameless mountain from the east. On its back we achieve a southeast-facing scarp of Gajsatje.

Once above the edge appeared the peaks of Suvlåjävvie (4442 ft) and the Stuvbiebaktie (4104 ft) to the north. Now we are guided by a broad back to the top of Gajsatje (3307 ft), where we find a small stone pyramid. The way back along the ascent track.

Requirements

The tour is not difficult. But slightly condition is advantageous for a longer ascension.

Equipment

Hot drink and picnic belong to the backpack. Above the treeline you can expect frequent strong winds. Warm, windproof clothing is mandatory. Snowshoes and poles are provided.
