Particularities
A short tour with fantastic views over the Vindelälven valley.
Tour description
Easy Ascent: Bierdåjvvie for Beginners
This tour is perfect as a first hiking experience in Lapland, or for guests wanting a quick taste of mountain air and great views.
We start at our Bjärdakken lodging, taking a small forest trail to a clear-cut area. We climb the first 100 meters here, then turn left, ascending higher. We stay in the woods for a bit, but soon the rugged southwest wall of Bierdåjvvie appears above us. Keeping a safe distance, we continue upwards through the birch thicket toward the summit.
From the top, enjoy impressive views down over the Vindelälven valley. On clear days, you can see the church and water tower of Sorsele in the far south, and to the west, gaze at Lake Storvindeln, 6 kilometers wide at its broadest point. The return path follows our ascent route.
As this mountain is rarely climbed, there are no defined paths or clear footprints. Hunters report golden eagles bred here a few years ago, but we haven't seen any yet.
Alternative Ascent (Technical Climb)
For those seeking a more challenging approach, the summit can also be reached via the mountain's southwest face. The rock is brittle, but the climb at levels I and II is relatively straightforward. However, for beginners, we recommend securing with a single rope. Dynamic belaying points are used. Climbing equipment is available for rent.
