Expedition  2 - Lappland medium

Particularities

In three days you go through the beautiful winter landscape of the north. The tour offers an extensive snowmobile expedition through subpolar area with steep ascents, wide ice areas and endless dimensions in the highlands.

Tour description

We meet at the rental station in Sorsele. On the river Vindelälven we follow the markings of "Vindelälvsdraget", an annual sleddog race. The Sami village Ammarnäs is the goal of the first day. With enough time we can learn on a tour of the villag esomething about the eventful history of the settlement or we visit the nature exhibition in the hotel "Ammarnäsgården". At the end of the day we can relax in the sauna. Dinner in the restaurant.

The next morning we start into the highlands. The trail leads us through subalpine birch forest upstreams. Soon we left the tree line behind us and nothing but white vastness surrounds us. We pass through a unique mountain landscape. Later we dive back into the woods and ride down into the valley. After crossing the river Umeälv we reach our second day goal, a special hotel for snowmobilers, in the small hamlet Umnäs. Sauna available when needed. Dinner in the Restaurant.

The third day brings us again adventure and fun in the white winter landscape of Lapland. In the distance we see our next interim goal, the mountains of Storblaiken. Here we can climb some peaks by snowmobiles. Later we drive through dense forests down into the valley of the mighty river Vindelälven. On this upstreams back to Sorsele. Return of snowmobiles and equipment and dinner in the pension.

Requirements

The length of the daily stages mainly depends on the weather and snow conditions. A driving time of 6-7 hours must be counted, including breaks. Some physical condition is advantageous.

Equipment

Warm protective equipment is provided: helmets, gloves, warm overalls, boots (ski mask if necessary)

• A minimum of 2 people per booking is required, max. 4
• Not recommended for pregnant women
• Minimum age is 16 years
• Vegetarian option is available, please advise at time of booking if required

Prices

14.300 SEK / pers. If the vehicles are occupied by 2 persons. For single use the second snowmobile will add 1,000 SEK per day.
